The Progress of Redemption

Humanity is known for struggling with God. We were created by Him and for Him (Col 1:17), but we cannot fully understand Him. Our generation has a glimpse at who God is and what exactly He is doing through the Bible. The next few pages retell small portions of the Bible through the eyes of children. Some names had to be added as the characters are not all recorded, though most of them are. I am not claiming that these are accurate portrayals of each characters emotions, but only what I imagine they might have been thinking or feeling considering the events they witnessed. My hope is that this shares a glimpse of the ongoing progress of redemption that God is working out for His glory.

Anxious, Zimri

Dear God,

You are so strong and in control, but You still let bad things happen. Why? Like, the king of Israel is pretty much the worst one yet and he's married to the most evil lady ever (1 Kings 16:30-33)! Mom and I almost starved to death when I was little, but then you brought Mr. Elijah to town and he asked Mom for some bread. She told him we were about to eat the last bit and then die, but he said to trust him and so Mom shared with him and the flour and oil never ran out until the rain finally came (1 Kings 17:7-6)!

Then when I was a little older I got really sick. So sick in fact that I died (1 Kings 17:17). I know that doesn't make sense, but it's true. I remember it, but it is too hard to explain to people. But Mom got mad at Mr. Elijah and asked why this had happened, and he took me up to his room. Mom isn't sure what happened next, but she just remembers Mr. Elijah coming down with me alive in his arms (1 Kings 17:23).

That is how we knew Mr. Elijah is from You God, but I miss him. He doesn't visit anymore. One of his followers Mr. Elisha (confusing isn't it!?!) said that Mr. Elijah was taken up to You with chariots of fire (2 Kings 2:11), but I wonder what that means. I wish You would just show Your strong and powerful side and crush these bad people all around us, but Mr. Elijah always told me not to wish that. That You will act in Your own time. It's just confusing. Our nation is divided now and instead of all being Israel some have a different king and are called Judah. They seem to have better luck with kings than we do. I know you can fix everything God, why don't You?
