The Progress of Redemption

Humanity is known for struggling with God. We were created by Him and for Him (Col 1:17), but we cannot fully understand Him. Our generation has a glimpse at who God is and what exactly He is doing through the Bible. The next few pages retell small portions of the Bible through the eyes of children. Some names had to be added as the characters are not all recorded, though most of them are. I am not claiming that these are accurate portrayals of each characters emotions, but only what I imagine they might have been thinking or feeling considering the events they witnessed. My hope is that this shares a glimpse of the ongoing progress of redemption that God is working out for His glory.

Turning to You, Josiah

Dear God,

When my great grandpa was king Israel fell to the Assyrians. Luckily he was king of Judah and not of Israel, but it's still scary. I think I understand why now though. My grandpa, Manasseh, was the perfect example. He was a wicked man. And You said You would bring disaster on Jerusalem and Judah when he was reigning (2 Kings 21:12). Well, my father was a just as evil as his dad and his own officials assassinated him (2 Kings 21:23). That's why I was only 8 years old when I became king (2 Kings 22:1).

Later, after I was actually established as king, I had people working on the temple (2 Kings 22:4-6), and Hilkiah, our high priest found the Book of the Law (2 Kings 22:8). What a tragic day that was. I knew that my dad and grandpa had not followed you, but I didn't know the extent of how bad they were (2 Kings 22:11). Since that day, I've decided to try to clean up this kingdom (2 Kings 23). I know You already said You will bring disaster on it, but perhaps there is still some good worth sparing. I'm glad You've given us so many chances!
