The Progress of Redemption

Humanity is known for struggling with God. We were created by Him and for Him (Col 1:17), but we cannot fully understand Him. Our generation has a glimpse at who God is and what exactly He is doing through the Bible. The next few pages retell small portions of the Bible through the eyes of children. Some names had to be added as the characters are not all recorded, though most of them are. I am not claiming that these are accurate portrayals of each characters emotions, but only what I imagine they might have been thinking or feeling considering the events they witnessed. My hope is that this shares a glimpse of the ongoing progress of redemption that God is working out for His glory.

Redeemed, Zebedee

Dear God,

My Grandpa really loved You. He would tell me stories about how You chose him to be one of Your followers when You came to earth as a man. He was fishing in the boat with Great Grandpa (the one I'm named after) and his brother and as soon as You called he got up and followed (Matt 4:21-22). He got to go with You everywhere You went and even followed You when the Jews captured You. He said that the people were so mean to You and beat You and spit on You and there was nothing he could do to help You because You chose to take that pain for us, so that we can be saved through You. I don't understand it really, but he says that most horrible event was the best one in history.

Not only did Grandpa John get to do everything with you while You were alive, he also got to see You after You had died (John 21) because You came back to life. And it doesn't stop there either, he also got to prophecy for You. The things he said are so confusing, and scary. He could not describe everything he saw, he got to see into heaven (Rev 4), but it was so different from earth so he just tries to compare it to things we know.

God, I cannot wait to get to heaven, because I know it's real. I believe that You created the world and that You sent Your Son Jesus. I believe that he was amazing and perfect, that he died for me, and rose again. I believe it was all because of Your grace. And I am oh so thankful.

Redeemed, Zebedee
