The Progress of Redemption

Humanity is known for struggling with God. We were created by Him and for Him (Col 1:17), but we cannot fully understand Him. Our generation has a glimpse at who God is and what exactly He is doing through the Bible. The next few pages retell small portions of the Bible through the eyes of children. Some names had to be added as the characters are not all recorded, though most of them are. I am not claiming that these are accurate portrayals of each characters emotions, but only what I imagine they might have been thinking or feeling considering the events they witnessed. My hope is that this shares a glimpse of the ongoing progress of redemption that God is working out for His glory.

Kinda Scared of You, Tirza

Dear God,

Your standards are so high! I know there are only 10 commandments that You gave us, but I think we all break them before we are even old enough to understand them. Ten rules doesn't sound like many, but let me lay them out for You:
           Put God first
           Don't bow down to idols
           Don't use God's name as a swear
           Keep the sabbath holy
           Honor mom and dad
           Don't murder
           Be faithful in marriage
           Don't steal
           Don't lie
           Don't be jealous  (Ex 20)
I'm sorry that I've already messed up even this week. I lied the other day when Mom asked me where I had been. I feel so bad. Dad says that the holiday of the Passover reminds us of how You save us even though we deserve to die. I guess back in Egypt (before the commandments were even written) You sent 10 plagues on the Egyptians. Dad said You warned them through Moses to put blood from a lamb on their door posts and You spared the ones who did, but if they didn't then the first born child in each house would die (Ex 12). It's like you expect perfection from us, but know we can't reach it so You gave us something else to sacrifice instead. Thanks for sparing us and saving us. Because we really couldn't make it on our own.
