The Progress of Redemption

Humanity is known for struggling with God. We were created by Him and for Him (Col 1:17), but we cannot fully understand Him. Our generation has a glimpse at who God is and what exactly He is doing through the Bible. The next few pages retell small portions of the Bible through the eyes of children. Some names had to be added as the characters are not all recorded, though most of them are. I am not claiming that these are accurate portrayals of each characters emotions, but only what I imagine they might have been thinking or feeling considering the events they witnessed. My hope is that this shares a glimpse of the ongoing progress of redemption that God is working out for His glory.

Confused, Darius

Dear God,

I get so confused. Uncle Paul used to be just like us. He was super faithful to You in everything he did. I guess a few years back this guy named Jesus claimed that he was the Son of God. And Dad and Uncle Paul are pharisees, so they knew that it couldn't be true, but there were all these people that followed him.

Uncle Paul used to be so committed to You that he would get the followers of this Jesus arrested and even killed because of their unfaithfulness to You (Acts 9:1-2, 8:1). But something happened to him and this is where I get so confused. Dad says that he thinks Uncle Paul fell of his donkey and hit his head, but I've heard Uncle Paul speak and it doesn't make sense, but it does seem right when I hear it. He says that he spoke to God (Acts 9). And that he now knows that this Jesus guy really was the Son of God and is alive in heaven even now.

He says that God doesn't just love the Jews, but that He loves everybody and that he is supposed to tell everyone about Jesus and how He is God and how He loves them. He never got to meet Jesus (unless you count when he spoke with him - or as Dad calls it the donkey fall dream), but he is now friends with Jesus' disciples and works along side some of them. Most of them still preach and teach to the Jews, but Uncle Paul and some of them go to the other nations.

I feel like I am supposed to be obedient to my parents and believe what they believe, but I wonder if they are wrong. I know that there is power in the name of Jesus, because I have seen it. People are healed by Uncle Paul, but he won't take any credit for it and says it is only because of the Jesus he preaches. God, whether he is right or not, I do not know, but I pray that You keep him safe. He has been through so much already, but he won't stop preaching.

Confused, Darius
