The Progress of Redemption

Humanity is known for struggling with God. We were created by Him and for Him (Col 1:17), but we cannot fully understand Him. Our generation has a glimpse at who God is and what exactly He is doing through the Bible. The next few pages retell small portions of the Bible through the eyes of children. Some names had to be added as the characters are not all recorded, though most of them are. I am not claiming that these are accurate portrayals of each characters emotions, but only what I imagine they might have been thinking or feeling considering the events they witnessed. My hope is that this shares a glimpse of the ongoing progress of redemption that God is working out for His glory.

Knowing You hear and hoping You listen, Jacob

Dear God,

I pray the shema every day, "Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength" (Deut 6:4). But that doesn't seem like what a prayer should be. I know You alone are God. I know You are far greater than any human. I know that You created the earth. But I somehow feel like You are more personal than we make You out to be. When I try to ask Dad or the rabbis about that though, they tell me not to disrespect You by saying such things. I am confused.

But there is one thing I know. We need Your help. These Romans are just too much for us these days. Please send the Messiah soon and may he be powerful and strong to deliver us.

Knowing You hear and hoping You listen, Jacob (Matt 1:16 - father of Joseph)
