The Progress of Redemption

Humanity is known for struggling with God. We were created by Him and for Him (Col 1:17), but we cannot fully understand Him. Our generation has a glimpse at who God is and what exactly He is doing through the Bible. The next few pages retell small portions of the Bible through the eyes of children. Some names had to be added as the characters are not all recorded, though most of them are. I am not claiming that these are accurate portrayals of each characters emotions, but only what I imagine they might have been thinking or feeling considering the events they witnessed. My hope is that this shares a glimpse of the ongoing progress of redemption that God is working out for His glory.

Expectantly, Hadassah

Dear God,

I want a prince charming to come and marry me someday. I watched the most beautiful love story happen right around me. See, I am a servant girl to Mr. Boaz. He's a really good guy, and he always lets people come and glean the fields after we are done going through collecting the grain (2:5-9). He used to get teased as a kid, because his mother had been a prostitute, but really she was a hero (Matt 1:5). Anyway, this girl came who had a really hard past. Her name is Ruth. She was a Moabitess, but she married an Israelite man and then he died (1:5). Her husband's dad and brother both died too (1:3-5), so her mother in law moved back here and instead of going back to her own family, she came with her here. Ruth would always follow along behind us cautiously until Mr. Boaz noticed her and said to leave enough for her that she wouldn't have to go to another field. Mr. Boaz even told her that she should stay here and gave her food at meal times. It turns out that he is a kinsman redeemer to her as well (3:2). That means that he is someone who can marry her! We would always talk about it in the field, and now I miss her, but she is so happy being married to him! And she even had a baby boy and named him Obed (4:13, 17). He's so cute and she even has me watch him sometimes for her. It's way better than being in the fields! You are amazing God! Sometimes life seems so bad that it's like You've forgotten us, but You always come through in the end. If only we could see the big picture!

Expectantly, Hadassah
